In the latest round of dog food and treat recalls, three companies are pulling their products from shelves.
All announced this past weekend, the companies are concerned about possible listeria or salmonella contamination. Both can wreak havoc on a dog’s health.
If a dog gets salmonella, she may experience fever, shock, anorexia, mucus in stool, vomiting and diarrhea, to name a few symptoms.
As for listeria, not all dogs have symptoms. Those who do, may experience diarrhea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, nausea, a stiff neck and instability. It can also be fatal.

Here are the companies that recalled their products and what steps you should take.
Northwest Naturals
The Portland-based company is recalling its 5-pound frozen raw food Chicken and Salmon “chubs” (dog food in tubes) due to a listeria contamination. The company reports that the listeria was contained in a batch of 94 cases that went to California, Washington, Texas, Georgia, Rhode Island and Michigan.
The UPC code is UPC code of 0 87316 38440 6 and the best buy date is 15 082218.

Carnivore Meat Company
The Wisconsin company recalled its Vital Essentials Freeze-Dried Beef Nibblets Entree for Dogs after a batch contained salmonella. All U.S. dog owners who purchased the product could be impacted, as the company said the products were sold both in independent retailers and online stores Chewy.com and Amazon.com.
The lot number, which can be found on the bag, that is impacted is #13753.

TruPet
The Ohio-based company pulled its 2.5-ounce package of Treat Me Crunchy Beef Delight pet treats due to salmonella contamination. All U.S. dog owners who purchased the product could be impacted, as the contaminated treats were sold on Chewy.com and Amazon.com.
The affected lot number, which can be found on the package, is #20190514 13753.
