Most retirees spend their golden years traveling the world, visiting grandchildren or puttering around the house, enjoying the fact there is no agenda for the day. But two seniors are spending their time giving back to homeless dogs in the community.
After seeing countless dogs dumped at their horse barn, Eugene and Corky Bostick began caring for the abandoned animals. “We started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live,” Eugene tells The Dodo.
But that’s not all. Besides providing a safe place and plenty of land to roam around on, the brothers wanted the pooches to get out and see other parts of the world….okay, the town. So, they built the cutest thing ever: a dog train.

A few times a week, the dogs (currently there are nine under their care) load up in the blue bucket-like seats and one of the Bosticks takes to the roads of East Fort Worth, Texas and either makes their way through the town, Sycamore Golf Course or heads to the local creek.
Regardless of the destination, the dogs seem to love the experience. “Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited,” Eugene told the outlet. “They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go.”
His brother Corky told NBC last year that besides making the dogs happy, it helps him. “Well I’ve been feeding the wildlife for over 30 years here, and I’m going to live another 30,” he said. “I’m only 86!” “My wife said if I didn’t get up and do this I’d be dead. And I really would.”
